Understanding Osteoporosis

May is National Osteoporosis Month. Osteoporosis makes your bones thin, fragile, and easier to break. While bone loss may be part of aging, developing good health habits can help you slow down bone loss and even help strengthen your bones.

Improve Your Bone Health

Learn how to improve your bone health or how exercise can help you manage your osteoporosis at these upcoming Living Well programs in Rochester.

Weight-bearing exercises also have been shown to increase bone density and strength. Examples include walking, dancing, resistance exercises, and aerobics. Check out a SilverSneakers fitness center near you, or try a Living Well physical activity class. Talk to your doctor before starting an exercise program.
